June 10, 1899 ~ Romantic composer Ernest Chausson, full name Amédée-Ernest Chausson, passed away in Limay, France ~ Died at age 44 in a biking accident, just as his career was about to take off. Influenced by Jules Massenet, with traces of Johannes Brahms. Known for orchestral works such as Viviane, Symphony In B Flat, and Poème for Violin & Orchestra, and his sole opera Le Roi Arthus ~ Chausson was born in 1855
 
Hattie McDanielJune 10, 1893 ~ Actress, comedian, singer, songwriter Hattie McDaniel born in Wichita, Kansas, USA ~ Worked as a singer in minstrel shows and radio, while maintaining manual day jobs, prior to venturing into acting. Has appeared in over an estimated 300 films, though only credited in about 80. Best known for portraying the role of Mammy in the 1939 Gone With The Wind, which earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress making her the first African-American woman to win an Oscar. McDaniel experienced racism and racial segregation throughout her career and was even actually unable to attend the premiere of Gone With The Wind because it was held at a whites-only theater. Her final wish to be buried in Hollywood Cemetery was denied due to the graveyard being restricted to whites-only at the time ~ McDaniel passed away in 1952

Friedrich KalkbrennerJune 10, 1849 ~ Pianist, composer Friedrich Kalkbrenner, full name Friedrich Wilhelm Michael Kalkbrenner, passed away in Paris, France ~ Composed over 200 piano works as well as concertos and operas. Had a profound influence on Frédéric Chopin, who dedicated his first piano concerto to Kalkbrenner ~ Kalkbrenner was born ca.1785
